Injection Molded Millimeter-Wave Horn Array Antenna

This paper shows injection molded millimeter-wave horn array antenna for the 1-dimensional APAA(Active Phase Array Antenna). The antenna is composed of horn antennas, grooved circular waveguide polarizers, E-plane T-junctions, and E-plane bends employing dielectric waveguides. This structure makes it possible to manufacture a feed circuit and radiating elements as an integrated unit by using injection molding process, and realizes massproductivity and cost reduction of waveguide antennas in the millimeter wave-band. A fabricated dielectric waveguide has realized low transmission loss, that is, about 0.1dB/cm. A horn array antenna fabricated with the aid of the design techniques has realized excellent performance with small and light weight, that is, VSWR less than 1.4 over the frequency range between 43GHz and 48GHz and gain 19.4 dBi at 43.65GHz.
